BELMAR BEACH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Game Play

We have two separate leagues this year – Tuesday & Thursday evenings June through August. It is a 13-week season, and we aim to get a minimum of 10 weeks in with the weather.

Game Format

Each team plays 4 games per night. Each team keeps score for 2 games. There is only one time slot – games start at 6:15pm and end by 8:15pm. Teams should aim to arrive 15min early with parking.

Team 1 vs Team 2 (Team 3 Keeps Score)
Team 2 vs Team 3 (Team 1 Keeps Score)
Team 1 vs Team 3 (Team 2 Keeps Score)
Team 1 vs Team 2 (Team 3 Keeps Score)
Team 2 vs Team 3 (Team 1 Keeps Score)
Team 1 vs Team 3 (Team 2 Keeps Score)

Which Division Should I join?

A Division is 4 vs 4 and is the most competitive division. Players should have advanced skills. A good gauge is if you do not feel comfortable playing doubles, it might not be a good fit for you.

B Division is 6 vs 6 and is competitive recreational. Players typically have some experience. The ones that lack experience make up for it in athleticism and grit.

C Division is 6 vs 6 and is recreational. This is for players that have minimal to no experience. Most just want to get out on the beach and have fun!

What should I bring?

We recommend bringing lots of water. There are water fountains near the boardwalk, but some courts are a decent walk away. Each team will receive a volleyball with their registration. This volleyball is your team’s game ball and should be brought every week.

What if it rains?

We do our best to play every week, but sometimes mother nature has other plans. We decide by 4pm the day of to make the final call. We send everyone an email and post on our Facebook if games are cancelled.

What if I want to play, but do not have a team?

We only accept team sign-ups. We do have a post pinned on our Facebook to connect with other individuals looking to team up: https://www.facebook.com/BelmarVolleyball/

What if my team cannot make it?

We ask that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if your team cannot make it. If we are not notified it will count as a forfeit for all 4 games.

Who makes playoffs?

Top 8 teams in each division make playo ffs. Tie breaker is set win ratio, head to head then overall +/-

Players must play in a minimum of 6 sets (2 full matches) for their team to be eligible for playoffs. Playoffs Start August 14th.

Finals are August 28th. Teams eliminated from the playofss will still be scheduled to play through August 28th.

What do you get with registration?

All teams get their own Wilson AVP OPTX ball to keep and 6 T-Shirts (additional shirts available to purchase $10) with their registration.

Zero Tolerance for BS

We have been very fortunate to have had such a great atmosphere at the beach and that’s all because of all the fantastic people involved. This league is all about having fun. None of us are professional volleyball players and it really isn’t that serious. This is a place for family fun so we ask that you do not use profanity.
